About This Place

Nestled in the heart of San Diego’s vibrant Ocean Beach neighborhood, The Cliffs Cafe is a true gem for breakfast and brunch lovers. This charming cafe offers a diverse menu that beautifully blends classic American breakfast staples with fresh, health-conscious options, making it a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike.

From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly complements their mouth-watering offerings. Whether you’re craving a hearty start to your day or a light, refreshing brunch, The Cliffs Cafe has something to delight every palate.

Their Breakfast Burrito stands out as a signature dish, fiercely adored by regulars for its perfectly seasoned eggs wrapped in a warm tortilla, packed with savory fillings that burst with flavor in every bite. Long-time customer Zachary Saleh raves about this burrito as “possibly one of the greatest things I’ve ever put in my mouth,” highlighting how its addicting flavors keep him coming back time and again.

If you prefer something a bit sweeter, the French Toast Combo or the Pancake Combo Breakfast will satisfy your cravings with fluffy, golden layers accompanied by crispy bacon and perfectly cooked eggs. Zharia Tucker praises the pancakes as “amazing,” complemented by bacon that's “great” and eggs “cooked to perfection.” Such honest reviews truly capture the love and care poured into each plate.

For those seeking lighter fare, the menu features vibrant choices like the Acai Bowl and the Chipotle BBQ Chicken Salad, which are both refreshing and nutritiously fulfilling. Christy French calls the acai bowl “the best we’ve ever had,” emphasizing the fresh, bright flavors and expert preparation that make it a standout.

The cafe also offers enticing breakfast specialties such as The Cliffs Breakfast – two eggs prepared any style with your choice of sausage, bacon, or ham, paired with crispy potatoes, hash browns, or fresh fruit, all served alongside warm toast. Their Avocado Toast, served on artisan multigrain bread, is another crowd-pleaser for those wanting a wholesome, flavorful start to their morning.

Beyond the food, the staff at The Cliffs Cafe genuinely elevates the experience. The friendly, attentive service, as noted by multiple visitors, alongside the clean, inviting setting, makes dining here feel both comfortable and special. Customer Andy Chatham gives props to their service and the cozy, intimate vibe of the space, pointing out the convenience despite its small size.

Just a quick heads-up for future visitors: there is no restroom on-site, so plan accordingly. However, this minor detail doesn’t detract from the overall excellent experience.

In conclusion, The Cliffs Cafe is a must-visit for anyone craving thoughtfully prepared breakfast and brunch in a laid-back, friendly environment. Their expertly crafted dishes—from the indulgent to the wholesome—paired with warm hospitality, make each visit a memorable one. Whether you’re after a new favorite breakfast burrito, a refreshing acai bowl, or classic pancakes done just right, The Cliffs Cafe delivers every time.

It is a casual breakfast place with lot of good food and drink options. We ordered chocolate mint julip frappe, tropical blast açaí bowl and veggie burrito. The frappe and açaí bowl were very good. The veggie burrito was decent. I would have preferred more eggs compared to veggies in the burrito. Maybe I should have gone with their other popular breakfast options.

AMAZING!!!!! I wish we were in town longer, because we would come here everyday! The acai bowls were there best we've ever had and the young lady at the counter was very friendly, informative and overall nice. I will recommend this place to everyone I know traveling to SD.

The coffee tastes amazing, recommend the iced americano. Both me and my boyfriend got the pancake meal. The pancakes reminded me of the little eggo pancakes, so good! The hash browns were also perfectly crispy

This place is just great. The food was delicious and the iced toffee nut latte wasn’t the slightest bit watered down. Real quality experience for a neighborhood shop. Forgive the photo of my Greek goddess bagel - I housed half of it before remembering to take a photo. Also, the young lady working the counter is just so lovely and personable. Will definitely make this my coffee place in OB.

Two weekends in a row. One of the best burritos I’ve had and today one of the best skillets I’ve ever had (I got no cheese, preference). Both very generous portions and the staff is wildly friendly. Friendlier staff than the majority of San Diego restaurants.
